Creative movement- This is an introductory, fun class that can develop your child's motor skills and rhythm, while enhancing their creativity and imagination. It is a blend of all dance forms specifically designed for the development of pre-school aged children.
Ballet- This is a classical class taught mostly in the Cecchetti style. The class focuses on correct vocabulary and proper body alignment, including turnout. Students will learn proper technique and learn to use it to convey a storyline. There are several levels of ballet based on age and experience. Students will be placed by teacher/owner.
Lyrical- This is a blend of modern, jazz, and ballet technique. The student learns to express the meaning of the lyrics through their faces as well as their movement. There are several levels based on age and experience. Ballet class is required. (2 years of pre-ballet/ballet is required to take lyrical)
Tap-This class develops rhythm, sound and timing skills with correct terminology technique. It allows the student to make music with their feet. Ballet is required to take this class.
Jazz-This class is a blend of ballet technique and "isolations" (students will learn to move 1 body part at a time; i.e. ribcage, shoulders, head).Broadway style jazz as well as contemporary or "funky" jazz will be taught. There are several levels of jazz based on age and experience. Ballet class is required.
Hula- This class is one of a kind and will explore an art form that originates from the Hawaiian Islands. It is a dance form that tells a story through hand and body movements. The hand motions are used to signify aspects of nature such as palm trees or mountains to help tell the story (every body movement means something). Terminology and the history behind Hawaiian dance are also taught to students. Ballet is required.
Modern-This class is one of the most expressive of all dance styles and is usually performed with are feet with non-traditional costuming. It will explore the history of modern dance, improvisational technique, floor work and composition/choreography. There are several levels of modern based on age and experience. Ballet is required.
Hip-Hop- This class explores the style of dance that originated in the South Bronx, NY. It uses body movements that go with the beat or rhythm of the music. Hip Hop has its own style of clothing and can include technique such as "popping", "locking", "breakin" and "freestyle". The student will work on strength and flexibility and coordination while learning Hip-Hop. There are several levels of Hip Hop based on age and experience. (This is the only class that may be taken without ballet).
